Townsville Go Club

Welcome to Townsville Go Club!

We are a group of players who enjoy playing Go – otherwise known
as Igo (囲碁) in Japan, Weiqi (圍棋) in China and Baduk (바둑) in Korea. Our main objective is to
share Go with the community and to improve our skills as players. Whether you are curious or an
experienced player all are welcome to participate.

What is Go?

Go is one of the oldest continuously played strategy games ever created. It originated in China over 3,000 years ago and has since been played globally with many national organisations.
The game pieces are black and white stones, which are placed on intersecting lines on a 19×19 board. Black and white stones battle to try and surround more points of territory than the other.
The game is great training for memory, discipline, pattern recognition, concentration and visualisation.

Where are we located?

The club meets at Hungry Jacks near the Willows Shopping Centre, Shop, FC5/13 Hervey Range Rd, on the third Saturday of each month from 9 am-11 am. This is a temporary location until the new Riverway Library opens up. If you have any questions, please contact us below.
